Yoga - Day 2

Yessiree, I was sore from yoga yesterday. But I thought that would be too easy of an excuse to bail!! So, I did my second class in a row today. I'm not going to say that it was easier today than yesterday because it wasn't. Today, the woman on TV said that eventually your body will crave yoga. Well, right now my body craves chocolate!!! I'll keep you posted on my progress....

Back in the groove

Because life never stops, I am going to blog as things come up and gradually fill in the blanks....I will adjust the date of my blog entries so that you will be able to read them chronologically.

Today, I started yoga. We will see if I keep up with yoga as well as I have kept up with this blog! I hear yoga is really good for you and I need to get back in shape - I have turned into a total slug! And today, just confirmed that - it is embarrassing how not flexible and out of shape I am!

It's a MAJOR award

OK, I'm back!!! I'll spend the next few days catching all y'all up to date on our life the last 5 months....

First, I was going to blog about a phone call I got from my parents one evening. Here is the background. We all went to the Fiesta Bowl in Glendale, AZ this year to watch the WVU Mountaineers win their 3rd bowl game in a row.

My parents drove out to meet us out there. At the Arizona border, the welcome center was having a guess-the-score of the Fiesta Bowl "contest". The person guessing the closest to the final score would win a prize. My dad, the optimist, guessed WVU: 42 Oklahoma: 28. I laughed at him when he told me his entry... What was the final score??? WVU: 48 Oklahoma: 28. He won!!! And whose laughing now????

What did he win??? Why a major award, of course!!!! Arizona tote bag, CD holder, luggage tag, t-shirt, and calendar.... Congratulations Dad!!!!

Car Problems

Remember all the good news we had??? Now is when the universe balances everything out...

Yesterday my car started making this really strange grinding, squealing, thumping noise that I have NEVER heard before. It only made the sound when it was moving, didn't matter what gear it was in - in fact it didn't matter if it was even IN gear.

So I'm took it to the shop today. The only thing I could think of was a bad bearing or something. The guy at the dealership heard the sound and thought it was a bad e-brake cable. After the technician did an initial inspection, the report was... drumroll please.... Bad rear wheel bearing!!! I asked (with a smile and a wink) if that was covered under my 10 year/100K mile power train warranty. He said, "No, but it WOULD have been if my car was a rear wheel drive"... I joked "Isn't that what I have".. He said "Uh, no, but nice try". Hey, a girls gotta try, right?

Staged, listed, and SOLD!!!

You're not going to believe this, but got and accepted an offer on our house literally within hours of it being listed on the MLS!!! Our agent gave other agents a "heads-up" that our house was going on the market. It hit the MLS around noon today. Our agent called me to tell me someone wanted to see it at 5 - I hustled home, grabbed Freebie, and - here's the pathetic part - we sat in the HS parking lot while the potential buyer looked at the house.

The computer room, guest room, basement, and garage were still messy, but I guess she liked what she saw, because she submitted an offer by 8:00. Mike is in Atlanta today and tomorrow, so we had to discuss the offer over the phone!!! Although it's not as high as we (OK, read I) initially hoped, we decided to accept the offer and not get greedy, given the current market conditions. We got a great deal on our house in Atlanta and the releif of having our house in Rochester "unloaded" was worth any extra money we might have gotten had we waited it out.

Interior Paint: $200

Misc Repair Work: $500

Having you house sold in hours: Priceless!!!

Leaving Kodak.....

Well, I did it. I submitted my letter of resignation to Kodak today. After discussing the pros and cons with Mike, we decided that my time is better spent right now focusing on getting ourselves moved and settled in Atlanta.

I knew back in December that I would not remain at my current position when Mike accepted the job in Atlanta. However, I hoped that there would be a job for me down there as well. As things turned out, that just isn't the case.

I have some mixed emotions about leaving - I have spent the last 10 years of my life here, but I really feel this is the right decision to make. In fact, when I submitted the letter, I felt a huge weight lift off my shoulders. Now I just have to decide what I want to do when I grow up.....

I've created a monster!!!!!!

You've heard of Cookie Monster, right??? Well, living at our house is Greenie Monster (aka Freebie)....

What happened to my sweet, timid little dog I got 9 years ago??? When the sun goes down, he turns into a bossy, barky beast!!!

Where did I go wrong??? I put him through obedience when I first got him, and he's pretty well behaved, usually.... Was it putting him front and center at our wedding as the ring bearer that gave him the impression that HE runs the house now????

Freebie has really bad teeth. So bad that I have a $300-500 vet bill once a year to have his teeth cleaned. Two years ago, his teeth were particularly bad - he needed to have 7 teeth extracted!!! Now his tongue sticks out when he's sleeping. : (

Greenies are supposed to help clean the dog's teeth. And since Freebie is not into doggie treats like Milk Bones or rawhide chews or pig ears - I was grateful that he liked Greenies. Now, these things are like crack cocaine for him - he can't get enough of them!!!! Let's just hope he gets a better teeth report at next vet visit to make the madness worth it.

T-minus 2 weeks and counting....

We leave on our delayed Honeymoon on Jan 26th and I haven't even STARTED packing!!!! Those of you who know me, know that this is very much NOT like me. Mike teases me by calling me the "Vacation Nazi", but he will also admit that we have a GREAT time on vacation.... I typically have our destination researched, activities listed out, and each day "planned" months before leaving.

We decided around this time last year to go someplace tropical for our honeymoon. We got married August 11th last year on a beautiful, typical Western New York Saturday. Now, why go to the tropics when the summer here is so short??? Oh, did I mention that August is also near-peak hurricane season (not that it ever stopped us before)??? And good thing that we did delay our honeymoon because exactly one week after our wedding, Hurricane Dean took dead aim at Jamaica. The north part of the island was spared from the storm, but I was glued to the computer, listening to the local radio online and reading the chatrooms during Dean's "visit" hoping for the best for the little island and her people.

After a trip to the travel agent we went from honeymooning at Sandal's in St. Lucia to going to Grand Lido Braco in Jamaica. Grand Lido Braco is a SuperInclusive resort, meaning unlimited food and drink along with Scuba Diving and golf fo 10 DAYS!!!! Plus, with all of Mike's travelling, he amassed more that enough frequent flyer miles for us to fly first-class without draining his account. I can't wait!!!!

BUT, before we go there is a ton of things we need to do such as rent pool time at the Aquatic Center here in Rochester, tan so I don't get burned, buy a "little black dress", and of course, at least write down all the things we want to do (maybe I'll even plan out a couple days!!!!).

Happy Birthday to Mike!!!

I ordered a "surprise" for Mike for his birthday - yellow cake with chocolate frosting (his favorite) delivered to his room in Las Vegas. I don't know how much of a surprise it will be this year since I did the same thing last year. I learned my lesson from last year that even in Vegas, you have to plan SOME things in advance, so the whole cake ordering process wasn't nearly as stressful as it was last year. I hope you like it sweetheart!!! HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! you don't want me to sing... Wish I was there celebrating with you!!!!

Welcome to my blog!!!

Well, I've never blogged before and who knows if I'll be any good at it. Like all little girls, I always wanted to keep a diary while growing up, but it would only last for a couple days so we'll see how I do maintaining a blog (as if I don't have enough to do as it is)... But, still it seems like it might be fun. Besides, with my side of the family and most of Mike's family living so far away, I thought it might be a good way for me to keep in touch with them and for them to stay up-to-date with us as we start our lives together.....

So here goes... Today is Jan 9, the day before Mike's birthday... AND he is Las Vegas at CES this week. I hate the fact that I am not with him on his birthday again this year (I missed his 30th birthday last year too!!). I just hope he has a wonderful day tomorrow and has a good time on his day. OK, maybe not THAT good of a time - he is in Vegas after all, and we all know what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas.
